About The Principal
Eugenia Powell, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, CPHQ
Dr. Powell has over 35 years of healthcare experience in a variety of roles. She is passionate about healthcare operations and delivering high quality, patient centered, culturally competent care to each person in need.
She has successfully driven a culture of excellence and quality in community hospitals and academic medical centers. Dr. Powell has demonstrated her business and leadership acumen in former roles such as Hospital Administrator, Chief Quality Officer and Assistant Vice President of Nursing in Washington, DC. In these positions, she strongly influenced a collaborative work style for leaders and staff, yielding positive quality and regulatory outcomes. Her experience also includes leading the closure of acute care services at a community hospital.
In addition to Dr. Powell’s strategic and operations background, she has also been integral to the professional development of nurses and technicians through her roles as Director of Education and Research and AVP. Dr. Powell successfully created a nursing research program at a tertiary hospital in Baltimore, where nurses were taught how to engage in evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research activities.
Dr. Powell is a founding member and vice president of the Black Nurse Collaborative (BNC). The BNC is a national organization focused on bringing together nursing experts with varying skills and competencies who have a willingness to be intentional about building and sustaining a network(s) to be used for promoting professional growth, entrepreneurship and the common uplift and elevation of its members and communities. https://www.blacknursecollaborative.com/
She is a national magnet appraiser with the American Nurses Association, Nurse Credentialing Center; Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society inductee; and holds two industry certifications. Dr. Powell has numerous publications, presentations, and has been the recipient of a number of awards.
Dr. Powell believes in mentoring others and providing a platform for others to grow and advance. She earned a PhD in nursing from The Catholic University of America; and a Master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Howard University.
